- Ringu (Ring) (1998) [Shizuko Yamamura]: Commits suicide (off-screen) by jumping into a volcano; she only appears in flashbacks and as a ghostly presence on the mysterious videotape. (Masako also appears in flashbacks and on video in the 1999 sequel Ringu 2 and the 2000 prequel Ringu 0: Basudei.)
